The K98 is shorter than the Russian Mosin Nagant, but Mauser K98 rifles are well known for their accuracy and reliability. Carbine rifles have shorter barrels than the standard rifle. The Mauser K98 rifle is officially known as the Mauser Karbine(carbine) 98. It stayed in service until the end of 1945. It was officially adopted as Germany's newest standard issue rifle the same year it was introduced. The German armed forces tested the Mauser K98. As a result, they released the Mauser K98 that same year. New developments in ammunition came in 1935, and the Mauser brothers decided to build a rifle that was well suited for the new 8MM Mauser cartridge. In 1884, the Mauser M1871 was officially adopted by the German armed forces as the standard-issue combat rifle. This rifle paved the way for new lines and pistols bearing the Mauser name.
